This hike takes you along a few beautiful kilometers of the Hohenwarte Stausee Weg in the Thuringian Forest. The whole loop is almost 75 kilometers long and leads its ambitious “visitors” through the largest contiguous reservoir area in Europe. With this tour, we want to give you a reliable foretaste of the dreamy villages and wildly romantic landscapes that she has in store - stage 1 from Wilhelmsdorf to the Hohenwarte dam.Wilhelmsdorf is your starting point. The small village is not far from the lake - at the latest when you reach the first section of forest and in the middle of it the moss house, you will see its blue waters for the first time. The Hohenwarte Reservoir is the fourth largest of its kind in Germany and one of the most beautiful relaxation areas ever. You first descend a steep stretch, then always along its banks towards the dam.You hike through beautiful countryside and past beautiful rest areas, where you can also treat yourself to one or the other cooling off. Finally, you will reach the dam, whose view of the water and the surrounding landscape will not leave you amazed. Then the same way takes you back to your starting point.
