Ascherhütten Tour – QualityTime im Paznaun
Mountain Biking Highlight
Paznaun-Ischgl planned a mountain bike ride.
June 9, 2020
On this tour you will take a sweaty but promising trip from the valley floor to the high mountains and back. More than 1,200 meters of altitude await you on the long climb up to the Ascherhütte, but also an exhilarating descent back to the starting point in See, the first place in the beautiful Paznaun valley. The tour begins at the valley station of the Medrigjochbahn and runs a very short distance along the road into the valley. But soon the route bends to the left and initially runs over asphalt through the districts of Klaus and Maierhof. When you have passed the last houses, a forest road begins, which you follow on a gentle incline in a few serpentines through the forests. It is best to take it easy now, so that you do not get too much out of breath, because from now on it is uphill, sometimes a bit steeper. After a little more than eight kilometers you will reach the mountain station of the Medrigjochbahn at the Medrigalm, where you can treat yourself to a break. Along the ski slopes, you then follow a forest path, some of which is a little steeper, to the top station of the Zeinisbahn. There follows a longer flat section with a short final climb to the Ascherhütte. Here you have more than earned an extensive break! Enjoy the mighty panorama of the high alpine mountain peaks and treat yourself to a tasty refreshment on the sun terrace of the hut. Rested and with new energy you are then ready to go back to See.Tip: As part of the Culinary Way of St. James, top chef Andreas Spitzer cooks on the Ascherhütte.
