The Ischgl Ironbike is one of the toughest mountain bike marathons in Europe and attracts numerous bike racers to the beautiful mountains around Ischgl every year. But even without racing pressure, the trails and paths here are fantastically beautiful and there is nothing to be said against it if you go on the trail of the iron bike alone or with a few friends. You are spoiled for choice because you can follow two routes: the "Light route" and the "Medium route".This tour describes the "Medium" version, on which you can really exercise. It is almost 50 kilometers long and with around 2,000 meters of altitude spreads you into a sweat over several short and a really demanding uphill. The cool thing is: the start of this tour is identical to the "Light" route. Back in the center of Ischgl, but only begins the demanding part of the medium route. The climb towards Idalp and Velillscharte is imminent and that means a demanding climb of around ten kilometers and more than 1,200 vertical meters in one go. Once at the top, the Velillscharte offers a beautiful backdrop for a rest and a wonderful view towards the Velilltrail and Madlein on the other side of the valley. Then a breathtakingly beautiful descent awaits you. You go downhill on flowing trails to the Prennerhang and finally back to Silvrettaplatz.Tip: If you feel like a little racing feeling, you can take part in the Paznaun Challenge. Simply download the "Paznaun Challenge" app, choose one of the two routes, track your journey and upload it at the end. You will already find your name on a ranking list and even have the chance of great prizes.
