The Main-Steigerwald-Radweg takes you from Sand am Main to Mönchsondheim in the picturesque Steigerwald. In just under 70 kilometers, it is on bike paths and side streets through the varied, hilly landscape and historical places. You cycle west from the beautiful church square in Sand am Main. The route leads along a well-developed bike path along the main road and you cross large fields and typical Franconian villages. In Oberschwappach, a detour to the artistic castle garden is worthwhile and in Gerolzhofen you can visit the winding old town. With a view of the wine-growing regions, you can reach Oberschwarzach and the nearby Grundsee invites you to take a break. Rested you cycle through smaller forests and past ponds. Another highlight is the idyllic park around the former Grosslangheim moated castle.Afterwards you get to Mainbernheim, which is surrounded by a mighty city wall, with a fantastic view of the vineyards on the Stollberg. After you have left the remarkable center behind you, you continue to the wine town of Iphofen - the perfect opportunity to taste the wines of the area. The last part of the tour takes you past the Iphofen train station to Mönchsondheim, where a visit to the interesting Kirchenburg Museum is worthwhile.
