The Itzenplitzer Pingen path is a relaxed circular hike, where you can learn something about the history of mining in the region. The starting point of the eight-kilometer circuit is at the Itzenplitzer Weiher hiking car park. Right at the beginning you hike into the dense forest and follow the path in a gentle up and down under the shady trees. After a few kilometers you will reach the Altsteigershaus restaurant, where you can take a break in the beer garden. Then it continues through the forest and past some wooden and later rusty miner figures. The landscape between the former Reden and Itzenplitz mines aroused people's curiosity more than 300 years ago about the origin of the black “burning stones” discovered here.Shortly before the end of the round you reach the Itzenplitzer pond with its pump house. There are some nice places to relax on the shore, there are several restaurants in the village.
