Nice, small tour around Eppenheim on mostly natural trails and paths.
Mostly through the forest, some seating. High, water-repellent shoes are recommended for the section on the Silberbach.
Suitable for children, only the somewhat longer, steady but moderate climbs could lead to resentment among the offspring.
Start at a parking lot not marked as such. First uphill on a nice path, just a short stretch of paved path just before the Atzelberg.
There is a barbecue area at the summit and the foundations of the former observation tower on the summit, which are extremely popular even in Corona times and despite the lack of a view.
From Atzelberg it is a long way on beautiful paths and narrow paths, following the Schinderhannes-Steig down.
If you leave the Schinderhannes-Steig on the left, there is a little more until you reach the bridge on the Silberbach. Here on the left on a narrow, slightly overgrown path. The following route to the next, barely perceptible bridge becomes adventurous. Overgrown, swampy, sometimes hardly any trail marks. If you don't want to do this, you can take the northern, comfortable path from the bridge. Or the southern Kramerweg. All paths reunite.
At another bridge on a Marienbildstock there are several benches for a rest. From here on the unpaved path follows the sign "Trout" up the mountain. After a house, the ground changes and the trees shrink. On a paved path with a beautiful view, it continues until a narrow meadow path leads down to the right.
Once in the forest, the natural path continues downwards to a slightly overgrown, short path that leads to the badger building, a rock in the forest.
From the badger building, take the short path back, then up a dirt path to the outskirts of Eppenhain.
A short stretch on asphalt to the Nickelskreuz, then slightly downhill on gravel.
Then the last climb comes on a natural path and path to the Rossert hut. From this over the rocky summit and to a viewpoint with a bench.
From here, always following the Schinderhannes-Steig, over narrow paths and beautiful paths, only interrupted by a short paved section, mostly downhill back to the parking lot.
