For this special tour, you will leave the Engadine behind and embark on an exciting, unique journey that you will never forget for a lifetime. The tour from perpetual ice to lemon ice is a very special experience for touring cyclists, racing cyclists, train fans and of course for you with your MTB. And you can even easily adjust the difficulty of the tour to suit your taste. You start in Pontresina and drive uphill on simple trails. If you prefer to drive uphill on asphalt: the road runs parallel, which is usually not very busy. In Morteratsch you can get a little refreshment on the go in the show dairy and above all enjoy the view of the Morteratsch Glacier. When the Bernina Railway was built, the glacier tongue went right up to the tracks. If you want to be even closer to the Eternal Ice, you can either drive into the valley or later take the cable car up to the Diavolezza. The highlight of your tour is the Bernina Pass in every respect. Crystal clear lakes lie far above the tree line and the red trains of the Rhaetian Railway meander through the scree. A unique experience! The Bernina Pass at 2,330 is a dream destination for many bikers and is the border to the Italian-speaking Val Poschiavo. What awaits you now is a 40-kilometer descent over around 2,000 meters in altitude. Sometimes you drive on the little-used main road, sometimes on simple trails directly on the river or on small roads through the villages. Again and again you have the opportunity for a little break with a breathtaking postcard view or a strong espresso.Passing the picturesque Lago di Poschiavo, you keep rolling towards Italy. Kilometer after kilometer you notice how the temperature becomes more pleasant and you are already looking forward to a refreshing lemon ice cream. At the end of Val Poschiavo lies the town of Tirano, where life is bustling. In the narrow streets of the old town, many restaurants await you for your extensive lunch break. Then it's back on the Rhaetian Railway. You can take your bike with you - but remember to make a reservation. The train ride is a single highlight. A trip to the Engadine is worth it for this experience alone!
