On this varied tour through the beautiful Altmühltal you dive deep into the jura2000 region with your bike, which gives the tour its name. A special highlight are the enchanting towns of Dietfurt, Beilngries, Breitenbrunn and Berching, which entice you to explore the Middle Ages and Baroque.Your tour on the donkey starts in Dietfurt at the "Chinese fountain". Because you are on a round trip, you can of course also start in one of the other places. Past the historic town hall, you leave Dietfurt and cycle into the idyllic valley of the Weißen Laber. The river winds romantically to your left and accompanies you to Breitenbrunn. The elegant Tillyschloss is privately owned, but it is worth taking a look past as well as the impressively located pilgrimage church of St. Sebastian. If you are out in autumn, the city shines at the Tillyfest in a colorful spectacle around the time of the Thirty Years' War. If cycling made you hungry, you have come to the right place to stop at the market square. From now on you have to pedal a little harder because you climb to the Jura. Once you have passed Oening and Winterzhofen, you race back down to the Sulztal and Berching. Medieval flair awaits you here in its purest form with the most beautiful half-timbered houses and an imposing weir system. Every June, the historic old town is immersed in a sea of light and colors as part of the “Berchinale of Light”.You cycle along the Main-Danube Canal in a relaxed manner, which runs through the region as a broad band. On the way to Beilngries you can visit the Plankstetten Benedictine monastery. In Beilngries you cross another romantic old town with many small streets and towers, then you go back to the starting point in Dietfurt via the Altmühltal cycle path.
