May 20, 2020
Two very special linden trees are the namesake for this tour, which takes you from Gräfenberg along the Walberla to Wiesenthau. From Gräfenberg you hike gently uphill across wide meadows to Kasberg, where the first linden tree awaits you: The Kasberger lime tree is now held by countless iron supports. No wonder, after all, it is around 1,000 years old. Now it is gently talented and soon you can see the striking double summit of the Ehrenbürg in the distance. Exceptionally, this tour does not go up, instead you enjoy a new perspective from the hiking trail below the sacred mountain of Franconia. Shortly before the goal of your hike, the second linden tree is waiting. In the Lindenkeller inn, a magnificent linden tree grows directly from the basement through the roof - the inn was actually built around the tree. After a well-deserved break, you will start your journey home at the nearby Wiesenthau train station.Arrival: From Nuremberg, the regional train R21 takes you to the starting point in Gräfenberg in around 40 minutes.Departure: From Wiesenthau you drive with the R22 to Forchheim and from here with the R21 to Nuremberg.Abbreviation: If you like, you can interrupt your hike after about 12 kilometers in Mittelehrenbach and take bus 223 directly to Forchheim station. Here you can change to lines R2 and S1 to Nuremberg.
