Wald und Wiesenwanderung Bachtel
Peter and Pupo went for a hike.

This forest and meadow hike on the Bachtel has a lot to offer. We Mark, Michi, Carlitta and I started in Gibswil-Bahnhof. After a few 100 meters we were able to leave the noisy main road and took the path into the forest. The first highlight is waiting in the Tobel Wissengubel to admire it. A waterfall falls over a large wall of Nagelfluhfels. The interesting thing is, a huge cave has formed behind the waterfall. Really spectacular. Then the path went up steeply from this funnel and the hike went through forest and meadow. In between there are always beautiful views of the foothills of Eastern Switzerland and the Linth plain. About half an hour below the Bachtel is another sight that Mark and I have visited over 20 years ago. The Bachtelspalt is a 100m long gorge from Nagelfluh. At the narrowest point I even had trouble slipping through with my backpack. It was great fun for the children who met like there. Then we continued on a gentle slope to the summit of the 1115 meter high Bachtel. The observation tower was unfortunately closed due to Corona, which didn't matter to Michi. We found a table with a view where we could eat something small. Overall, we stayed on the summit for about 1 hour. Not least because of the beautiful view of Lake Zurich and the two islands Ufenau and Lützelau. Then it went down the forest path on the north flank. At the same time, a biker trail was created, which looks pretty breakneck for ordinary hikers. The bikers then showed us some samples. Further down we stopped at a beautiful pond and listened to the crickets in the meadow. Then we took the last section under our feet until the post bus in Wernetshausen took us down to Hinwil. In this time of year with the fresh green of May a very attractive tour.
