The round tour starts in Duisburg-Essenberg directly on the Rhine. Bus lines 912, 922, 923 and 926 take you to the Essenberg Kaiserstraße stop, which is only a few meters away from the starting point. You can take your bike on the bus from 9 a.m. on weekdays and all day on weekends.Right at the beginning you turn your back on the Rhine and cycle past the Essenberg lake. You pass fields and meadows as well as the nature reserve Essenberger Bruch before you dive into the district of Oestrum. From here it continues to the recreation area Töppersee, where you can cycle along the shore through beautiful nature and take a detour to the neighboring water ski facility. There you will also find cozy places to take a break. Finally, you leave the water again, cross the Rumeln district and drive past fields to the Kruppsee.A little later you will reach the picturesque Rhine meadows, including the nature reserve, before you reach the vibrant logistic real estate logport I. Coal and steel left - duisport came. A new era began in Duisburg in 1998 with the 265 hectares, i.e. around 371 football fields, of the disused Krupp steelworks in Duisburg-Rheinhausen. Passing impressive crane systems, you can also take a look at the villas of the former civil servants' settlement of the Kruppwerk. In the Rheinhausen-Atrop district, you finally come back to the Rhine. While driving back to the starting point of the tour along the Rhine meadows, you can enjoy great views of the majestic river and its active shipping.
