The starting point of the leisurely tour on the Ruhrort adventure cycle path is the so-called thousand-window house in Ruhrorter Straße. You can get here by tram 901. Opposite is the port center of the largest inland port in the world. You can take your bike on the train from 9 a.m. on weekdays and all day on weekends. On completely flat paths you cycle to the start of the Vincke Canal and follow it to the west. After a few hundred meters you will reach the Schifferbörse, where you can enjoy the characteristic harbor atmosphere. Here you also have the opportunity to take part in a harbor tour of the Ruhrort passenger ship. Then you follow the canal further north and soon reach the Mühlenweide, a large festival meadow located directly on the Rhine. In the summer months, a cozy beer garden invites you to linger. Let your eyes wander and discover the harbor art world "Echo des Poseidon" by the artist Markus Lüpertz on the opposite bank. This gift on the occasion of the 300th anniversary of the port welcomes the skippers at the confluence of the Rhine and Ruhr rivers as a landmark. From here you cross the railway port and cycle a small arch towards the Museum of German Inland Navigation before you reach the shore of the railway port again. After you have passed the harbor basin, you roll through the center of Ruhrort to the so-called shipyard harbor. From here it is not far to the thousand-window house, where you can reach the starting point of your round trip.
