Are you ready for an adventure? It could start in Forchheim. Get out of the train, into nature. You drive around 28 kilometers to Ebermannstadt in the Franconian Switzerland and can look forward to a nice warm-up stage. On the way you can expect a varied ascent and descent with many brilliant viewpoints. After the start in Forchheim, the route is still flat, so that you can warm up in peace after your arrival by train. After a few meters you leave the asphalt and follow a narrow meadow trail out of the city. Here you will also get to know the Wiesent - the small river will be your loyal companion on the way through Franconian Switzerland. The first climb leads gently upwards and is only about a kilometer long. On the plateau you drive around the Rodenstein. The striking rock peak is around 100 meters higher, but also looks impressive from a distance. Then it goes uphill. You climb up towards Reisberg. You also skilfully drive around its summit and on a really beautiful forest path with the best view. The following descent spits you out directly in Hagenbach. The way down to the valley is well developed and you can just let it go. There you can finally take a short break and let your feet dangle in the Trubach. It is even more relaxed if you get a few treats from the nearby bakery beforehand. In the meantime you have already managed more than half of today's kilometers, but not yet half of the vertical meters! That is about to change soon and that's why it is really steep when you leave the neighboring town of Pretzfeld. Next stop: the Dietrichstein castle ruins and the associated climb - the penultimate of the day. As a reward, the flowing descent to Ebermannstadt beckons. There is also the promised reunion with the Wiesent. You can also stock up on provisions here and then find a cozy place for your tent or use one of the overnight accommodation options on site. If you are traveling with several people, the scout house on nearby Lindersberg could also be an option, but it is only rented to groups.
