Saarland planned a hike.

Sébastien Le Prestre de Vauban was known as the fortress builder of the Sun King Louis XIV and is rightly considered the most important military architect of the Baroque period. Vauban also left its mark in Saarland: the boulders for the fortress city in Saarlouis were removed on the slopes between Teufelsburg and Humburg. Reason enough to take a closer look at this region along the twelve kilometer long Vauban-Steig dream loop. The hike starts at the airfield in Düren. You walk past the former quarries, which have now become small, overgrown natural jewels. The path continues along narrow forest paths, through shady acacia forests and over the heights of the Gaus between the Saarland and Lorraine. The highlight of the hike is a visit to the imposing Teufelsburg, from which you can enjoy a wonderful view of the Saar Valley.
