What is a "forest shower"? The forest people used to call the "Husche" a slide made of logs, on which the cut logs "scurried" from the mountain slopes in the valley. The Waldhusche in Saxon Switzerland is a story-telling outdoor area where children and adults can experience everything about forest management and the natural processes in the forest up close.Perhaps you will even come across a little forest spirit scurrying between the trees?

Four networked themed trails connect impressive historic forestry facilities with active play elements and stations for pure enjoyment of nature. The individual themed trails have different levels of difficulty, and some are wheelchair-accessible.In the Waldhusche you will find among others the:- Waldkundeweg: In the national park nature is largely left to itself. The national park administration is still intervening on almost half of the area to make the forest more natural. How this happens is explained on the stations along this path.- Historical forest use path: how did people use the forest in the past? What existential significance did the forest have for you? Marvel at the variety of products that used to be extracted from the forest.- Nature enjoyment path: here you are not only invited to take a walk with particularly attractive views, this path is really a path of discovery of natural beauties!- Forest adventure trail: Children in particular can experience some surprises here - with many forest play stations! The tour suggestion shows the "forest adventure path". In any case, plan enough time to explore the rest of the area, including the two information points, the Beizehaus and Blockscheune. The Waldhusche is not a static exhibition but is constantly changing - so multiple visits are worthwhile!
