On this themed tour on May 8, 1945, you will pass numerous historic sites and memorials that testify to the time of the Second World War.In our story app ABOUT BERLIN (free download from Google Play and Apple App Store) you will find detailed background information and stories about the individual locations. Historical images, contemporary witnesses in a video interview and an audio collage of original diary entries from the last days of the war complete the offer. The 27.9-kilometer tour leads along mostly bike-friendly routes from the city center past numerous sights and historical memorials along the Spree and Tiergarten via Kurfürstendamm and the Königsalle to Grunewald. From here it goes on the Königsweg-Kronprinzessinnenweg cycle expressway, which is part of the planned network of eleven cycle expressways that are to be built over a total of about 100 kilometers in Berlin.During the tour you will learn more about the background of World War II. We hope that our history tour will make you think. Finally, a visit to the permanent exhibition in the house of the Wannsee Conference is recommended. The exhibition focuses on the history of the persecution and murder of European Jews and encourages the reader to deal with the history of National Socialism, as well as with the past and the aftermath.
