The Pfälzer Höhenweg guarantees a lot of variety. And not only because it goes as high on the 114 kilometer long route as nowhere else in the Palatinate.Stage 1: From Winnweiler to Dannenfels
On the first stage of the Pfälzer Höhenweg we follow the tracks of the mining industry. From Winnweiler, the 16-kilometer hike leads through the Imbach mountain experience world and past the Steinbach celtic garden to the climatic health resort of Dannenfels.
Stage 2: From Dannenfels to the Bastenhaus
The second stage leads us high: From Dannenfels we walk on the 687 m high Donnersberg, the highest mountain in the Palatinate, and continue via Marienthal to the Bastenhaus.
Stage 3: From the Bastenhaus to Rockenhausen
From the Bastenhaus it goes to the highest village of the Palatinate after Ruppertsecken, there you have beautiful views of the region. Then we hike down to our stage destination Rockenhausen.
Stage 4: From Rockenhausen to ObermoschelVaried museums in Rockenhausen, remains of a Roman settlement and impressive castle ruins await us on the fourth stage of the Pfälzer Höhenweg. About 19 km long we hike from Rockenhausen over the promising ridge to Obermoschel, the smallest town in the Palatinate.Stage 5: From Obermoschel to Meisenheim
At 12.5 km, the fifth stage is the shortest on the Palatine High Trail. From Obermoschel we walk over the Kahlforsthöhe to Callbach and on to the historic old town of Meisenheim.
Stage 6: From Meisenheim to Lauterecken
14 km long, the sixth stage takes us from the romantic old town in Meisenheim, which enchants with picturesque half-timbered houses and historic buildings, on an old Roman road to Lauterecken.
Stage 7: From Lauterecken to Wolfstein
The last stage of the Pfälzer Höhenweg leads from Lauterecken via Lohnweiler through the shady forests of the Königsberg massif to Wolfstein. On the approximately 21 km long route we pass the romantic castle ruins old and new wolf stone.
