The final stage in Wales is a little shorter, taking you from the border of Snowdonia National Park east towards the English border, via some of North Wales’ most spectacular trails.
Start the stage with a climb from the head of the lake up onto Foel Cedig on singletrack, enjoying the brilliant off road descent from Coed y Glyn down to rejoin Regional Route 12 with views to Lake Bala. From here, you’ll follow a more major road to Llandrillo, before heading east further along the Wayfarers Memorial Traverse, a wide gravel trail up and over the Berwyn Range.
Follow the River Ceiriog on the road through Tregeiriog and Glyn Ceiriog to reach the outdoors town of Llangollen, on the River Dee. If you have time, stop for a while to admire this bustling little town and get something to eat. Now, you’ll head north on quiet lanes, just below to Eglwyseg Mountain cliffs to a place well known as World’s End.
Pass through the Mountain biker’s mecca of Llandegla Forest before descending to civilisation in Bwlchgwyn.
Another descent follows to Cefn-y-Bedd where the route for this segment stops. You can stay locally for the night to rest before tackling the next major segment of GB Divide; the great North!
