This tour takes you steeply uphill to the Sennalpe Schlappold - it is a short but crisp pleasure with around 850 meters of altitude and is therefore only recommended for trained bikers.Start and finish are at the impressive ski flying hill Oberstdorf, from where it is very leisurely at first, but then increasingly steeper to the Schwand hamlet. There is a short downhill section where you can rest your legs again. Now it gets challenging: the route only goes uphill to the Schlappoldalpe. The following, sometimes very steep, sections of the route not only require excellent physical condition, but also a certain level of driving technique. At the non-managed Schlappold Höfle, you can take a short break before continuing up to Alpe Schlappold, Germany's highest Sennalpe.Once at the top, you are rewarded with a magnificent view of the Allgäu Alps and a hearty snack for the strenuous uphill climb. While you are resting, you can look forward to the return trip, because you drive the same way as on the outward journey - but now it only goes downhill! It's really fun. Nevertheless, you should take a short break from time to time so that the brakes on your bike do not overheat. If you fancy a little refreshment after the tour, a detour to Freibergsee, which is not far from the ski flying hill, is worthwhile. With its cool water, the former glacial lake promises a pleasant cooling after the efforts of the bike tour.
