MT 8.7 Gspon > Saas Grund
Hiking Highlight (Segment)
MonacoTrail went for a hike.
September 6, 2016
Long hike through the Alps, 8th section, 7th and last leg (T2): Gspon towers 1100 m above the mouth of the Saas Valley, on the "Gsponer Höhenweg", it can be largely on altitudes around the 2000 m, on its east side run off , always accompanied by the panorama of the four-thousander around Saas Fee - if the weather cooperates. On our tour, it was cloudy and rainy, only the lower hem of the glacier was sometimes visible. Nevertheless, the path is so varied and beautiful to go that it never gets boring. Small settlements stick to the steep slopes, rubbings are to cross, mountain forest and small alpine pastures alternate.Due to the weather, we descended from Linde Bode (2230 m) to Saas Grund. The inhospitable inn in Heimischgartu has opened only in fair weather, so do not hesitate. If the weather is good, we recommend the way to Kreuzboden, including the option to take the cable car.

A very nice tour, which is really recommendable. The 2 old gondolas to Gspon are already an experience. I have always been lucky that the weather was nice. We were able to continue until Kreuzboden. The piece between Grubenalp and Kreuzboden I find the most beautiful. Last week I ran a circular route over the GrubenalpAnother nice alternative is Heimischgarten-Grubenalp-Kreuzboden-Almagelleralp-SaasAlmagell.

Thanks, Wodi: Yes, we would have liked to continue the piece to the cross bottom, but it was just too uncomfortable and on our last stage we just did not have enough bite anymore. On the next valley, however, was brilliant weather and we have made up the wonderful panoramic tour from Kreuzboden to Almageller Alp: komoot.de/tour/16273000
