The hike follows an old commercial path that used to bring pigs, goats, fish and all kinds of food from Taganana to La Laguna, the capital of Tenerife at the time. The starting point is at Plaza de la Nuestra Señora de las Nieves in Taganana, a mountain village with a core of white houses. You hike up the slope through terraced fields and the view gets better with every meter you overcome.
The path leads steeply in part through the millennia-old laurel forests: tree trunks covered with lichen and huge ferns convey a unique atmosphere as if from a fairy tale. Clouds and fog often stick to the forested mountains and immerse the scenery in an even more mystical mood.We continue through the National Park of the Anaga Mountains and after a good four kilometers you reach the Pico de los Pasos. You will pass magnificent viewpoints high above the Atlantic. The last part of this hike you march along a winding road that takes you to the Mirador El Bailadero.Bus line 946 runs from Santa Cruz to Anaga as well as your destination at the Mirador El Bailadero viewpoint. You can also take bus 947 back to Santa Cruz or spend the night in the traditional hotel "Montes de Anaga".
