komoot planned a mountain bike ride.

On day 1 it goes from Kelheim to Kallmünz. This includes virtually the first four stages of the hikers. That's a lot, but for experienced mountain bikers with downhill experience definitely feasible. Be prepared to push your bike uphill in some places. In the north of the town of Kelheim, the Jurasteig leads up to the Goldberg, where, with shady beech forests, a typical Jura landscape appears for the first time. Great trails through forests, over mountain peaks and valleys lead you today in the picturesque Kallmünz. In between there is even a short ferry crossing. A great tour with a lot of variety.

The title is Bike Trekking, but the single trail share is 70%. Is it possible to drive the track with a crosser?

Hi Markus,This tour is intended as MTB bikepacking. With the Crosser, it is not recommended, because as you have already seen, are mostly single trails.Look here on our Topic Pages, komoot.de/topic/5/fernradwege, maybe there is something suitable for you.We wish you nice cycling tours!

    A stupid question beforehand!
Did somebody of komoot do the tour himself?
Then your definition of "experienced mountain biker" would interest me!
We drove more than once a day and km in the Alps, but here we have eigtl. Pushed any real increase or carried!
Only our ambitious e-bikers could drive 'almost' everything!
    The name Jura-STEIG is program!
Even with the previous knowledge, it should be noted that it is a scenic, technically and culinary very appealing tour, with a very high trail share.
Possibly. clockwise even more beautiful with a few built downhills at Kehlheim ;-)
ps a well maintained trail lives, so signage and present trail do not always match (update?)

Hi Dirk,That's not a stupid question, but a legitimate one. Of us the route is not driven but a few users, of which we have the idea and the information. In "experienced mountain bikers" is more about the downhill ability or the "trail strength". Uphill is always hard on a climb, as you already write and I as an old freerider can sing a song of it myself. I will definitely adapt the description in any case.As for the update, let's take a look! Thanks for the hint.Best regards,
    Betty from komoot

In my view, the definition "feasible for experienced mountain bikers" fits very well. We were able to drive almost anything with a few exceptions. And a few sliding passages are part of a demanding tour.

Please note!! Jurasteig to Eilsbrunn for cyclists locked for conservation reasons can be easily avoided, although missing a nice trail, but the tour geitzt not exactly so, so this is good to get over.

I have already ridden the Jurasteig several times with eMTB and find it extremely beautiful in terms of landscape and driving technique, especially because of the high proportion of trails. Technical advice is not too difficult, it is extremely strenuous uphill, because of the many short and very steep climbs, certainly without an E.
We at baikn.de are planning to include this as a guided tour in our program.

I would be interested in whether you can drive this part the other way around?
I imagine starting in Kallmünz and landing in Regensburg!
I am grateful for tips 😊
