The focus of this hike are the promising mountain slopes of the Baracán and the fantastic coast at Punta de Teno. The tour starts with the impressive view from the Mirador Altos de Baracán and then takes you along the slopes of the Baracán at an altitude of almost 1,000 meters. Your gaze wanders over the surrounding peaks, terraced fields and small mountain villages. There is often fog at these heights and the landscape is therefore rich in countless plant species. The idyllic mountain village of Teno Alto is ideal for a break with Café con Leche. Then it goes past small settlements with traditional brick kilns and so-called Tagoros - stone circles that were used by the inhabitants of Tenerife as councils or meeting places. You reach Las Cuevas and descend from here into the Barranco de las Cuevas. In the rocky gorge you will discover unique cacti and interesting rock formations. The path is partly covered by old paving stones and at the foot of the Barrancos is the inclusion of Las Casas with its old architectural remains. The last section of this hike is on a road that ends at Punta de Teno. From the westernmost tip of Tenerife you can enjoy a magnificent view of the entire peninsula, the coastline and the red and white striped lighthouse, which is surrounded by volcanic rocks. You can reach the starting point at the Mirador Altos de Baracán by rental car or you can take the bus line 355, 365 or 366 to Las Portelas and start from there. Punta de Teno is served by bus line 369 and takes you to Buenavista del Norte.
