This varied circular hike combines nature and culture. The starting point is in the village of Las Vegas, which means “floodplain”, and from here you hike north. You will come across old stone ovens that used to be used not only for baking but also for drying fruit. This region has been shaped by agriculture and forestry for centuries. The hiking trail winds upwards and you can look forward to wonderful views. It goes through rocky gorges and along small streams that supply the fields with water. A nice place to rest is at the old fountain Fuente del Guirre, where there is also a huge Canarian pine tree. You continue hiking through the shady forest and meet the Vejas Casas Cueva, small cave dwellings that are still partially used as a shelter today. You can get back to Las Vegas through the Barranco del Seco gorge. In the last section, the landscape is characterized by terraced fields on the slopes, where predominantly nutrient-rich, organic jable sand is used. You can reach Las Vegas by rental car or take bus 34, 36 or 111 to La Pedrera or Chimiche and start there.
