Wanderung zur Darmstädter Hütte – Tagestouren in St. Anton am Arlberg
St. Anton am Arlberg and ÖBB Rail Tours planned a hike.
January 27, 2020
The Darmstadt hut is a DAV shelter in the Verwall group, which with its red and white shutters offers a nice color change to the stone gray of its surrounding rocks. It is the destination of your tour today.A tour that has it all by the way. On a little over 24 kilometers (there and back) you master almost 1,100 meters of altitude. But let me tell you one thing: it pays off!As always, you start in the center of St. Anton. From here you make your way towards Moostal, which - contrary to what its name might suggest - not only has moss, but a whole alpine flora splendor for you. It is also the one that, from your tour destination, together with the impressive mountain panorama all around, ensures a truly breathtaking view. And then there is another natural highlight waiting for you on this tour: The Kartell reservoir shows itself in all its turquoise-blue splendor. And it shows potential not only as a photo motif, but also as a sunny resting place. It is not far from here until you reach your goal - the Darmstadt hut. At 2,384 meters above sea level, it gives you a view where you can enjoy the delicious dumplings even better before heading back down the valley.Tip: You can shorten the approach to the hut somewhat by taking the Rendlbahn to the mountain station (in summer only on Wednesdays and Thursdays).
