From Gingen an der Fils you climb the sometimes steep path to Hämmelplatz. On a promising path it goes past the Hohenstein and Klepperfels to the Kuhfels. There you can expect a wonderful view of Geislingen on the trail and cake.
Then the Albtraufsteiger route leads you down to the Eybtal, where you cross Heidenheimer Straße. At the edge of the forest you hike towards Eybach and then turn right into the idyllic rock valley. The nature reserve is known for its interesting rock formations and caves, which are worth a closer look.
From the Felsental it goes up to the Alb plateau, where you can climb the Ödenturm outside the village of Weiler. From the 36 meter high observation tower you can enjoy an even more impressive view of the varied landscape. The tower is a bit off the main route - we have included the side trip. You should plan around one kilometer for the outward and return journey. Before you descend to Geislingen, the path takes you to the Helfenstein ruins. Here you can dive deep into the history of the region and take a break in the castle tavern. The route ends at the stage destination in the historic old town of Geislingen.
