The Albtraufsteiger starts in the center of Wiesensteig, which is known for its historic half-timbered houses. You follow the Fils westwards to the paper mill and cross the babbling brook there. You will soon reach the picturesque Fils origin, the source of the Fils. The path winds through the quiet forest up to the Schertels cave. Where the Jura Sea once covered the Albtrauf, you can now explore fascinating stalactite caves. Back on the surface, we continue north. You hike on soft forest paths and can enjoy the fresh air.The absolute highlight of this stage is the ruin of Reussenstein, which is often referred to as the "jewel of the Swabian Jura". Here you can enjoy a wonderful view and explore the centuries-old remains of the castle. At the Hofgut Reußenstein you step out of the forest and can take a break in the restaurant. After a well-deserved stop, the route continues to the summit of the Boßler. On the way there you will always pass beautiful viewpoints. From the 800-meter-high Boßler you descend to the German House, your today's destination.
