Schladming Dachstein planned a hike.
January 17, 2020
The third stage can be tackled in two different ways. If you have experience with this, on the one hand there is the option of climbing a via ferrata towards the glacier. As an alternative, you can board the Dachstein glacier cable car below the Dachstein south wall hut. If you choose the via ferrata, you need a via ferrata equipment. As always, you should also keep an eye on the weather in order to finally arrive safely at the stage. In this tour we present the variant with the cable car. It starts right behind your night quarters, where you - well rested and well-saturated from breakfast - descend towards the valley station. From here you hover comfortably and leisurely up towards the mountain station with a magnificent view.Once at the top, the impressive Gjaidstein, which interrupts the large glacier area, immediately catches your eye. If you feel like it and have time, you can pay a visit to the Skywalk and the suspension bridge. In any case, the view is magnificent up here.It continues from the Hunerkogel mountain station, past the Gjaidstein and further east. The colored markings on rocks and snow poles serve as orientation. And so this high alpine hike takes you from the glacier, past the Feistererscharte until you land in the Guttenberghaus after a last steep descent. This is your milestone today.Tip: If you want to do this hike (or at least a large part of it) individually as a day tour, you can take a bus from Schladming train station to the valley station of the Dachstein glacier cable car and continue with the gondola. You can find more information here: derdachstein.at/de/service/anreise
