Aroused with a wonderful view from the Hofpürglhütte and strengthened by an extensive breakfast, the Dachstein circular hike takes you further towards the Dachstein Südwandhütte. Stage 2 takes you on steep climbs up to 2,300 meters above sea level. Because you go to such dizzying heights, you have to be prepared for changes in the weather at all times. Good footwear is therefore just as important as weatherproof clothing. You can't get past any hut on the way - so pack some provisions in your backpack. You start stage 2 on a mountain trail that brings you closer and closer to the Dachstein glacier. It rises steadily and finally leads over the boiler wall and large scree to the cattle field. Not only lush green alpine meadows await you here, but also a great view of the high Tauern. Maybe just the right place for a little snack?Anyway, we continue over the summit of Sulzenscheid and from there back down to Sulzenhals. You can already tell - this hike has it all. In total, it goes up over 800 meters and down a whole 700 meters. Below the ridge you hike to the so-called "gate".After crossing the border again - this time from Salzburg to Styria - a few switchbacks and scree slopes, and a last climb, you finally reach the Dachstein Südwandhütte. Once here, it means: put your legs up and gather strength. You have reached today's milestone.Tip: If you would like to take this hike individually as a day tour, the best way to get there is by public transport to Filzmoos and from there by hiking bus towards Aualm. You can find more information about the hiking bus here:
