Etappe 10: Von der Muttekopfhütte zur Anhalter Hütte – Lechtaler Höhenweg
Tirol planned a hike.
January 10, 2020
After a hearty breakfast you set off for the last official stage of the Lechtaler Höhenweg: from the Muttekopfhütte, the path goes up the steep slope to the Guggersattel. You hike through the Scharnitzkar to the saddle of the same name at an altitude of 2,441 meters. Take care of the loose rock under your feet and find out about any snow fields that remain here for a long time. From the Scharnitzkarsattel, the route runs through the steep Schrofen des Hahnenkars down to the Hahntennjoch, where you cross a pass road. The last ascent of your hiking adventure follows, which takes you to the Steinjöchl. In summer you will meet many hiking colleagues here, because the 2,198 meter high peak is particularly popular. From the summit cross on Steinjöchl you hike to the destination of the Lechtaler Höhenweg, the cozy Anhalter hut. The building has stood in this dreamlike setting since 1912 and spoils you with delicious delicacies. Comprehensive renovation work has been taking place here since autumn 2019, so you cannot spend the night at the hut before the 2021 summer season. Until then, take a leisurely break here, gather your strength and descend to the bus stop on the same day using the descent route (stage 11). From 2021 you can crown the Lechtaler Höhenweg with a last rustic overnight stay in a hut and enjoy a sunset in the mountains.
