Etappe 3: Von Obertauern nach Flachau – Stoneman Taurista
Mountain Biking Highlight
Martin Donat planned a mountain bike ride.

The third stage of the Stoneman Taurista begins with pure enjoyment: You head for one of the highlights of the entire tour via relaxed forest paths, quiet side streets and a few trails. After only about six kilometers you will reach the impressive Johannesfall, which roars down the rock with a loud roar around 70 meters deep. You can even go behind the waterfall, but you have to leave your bike for a while. The small waterfall path can only be reached via a steep staircase. Since there is also a stamping point of the Stoneman circuit nearby, it is a good idea to take a short break and take this huge natural spectacle with you. With these unforgettable pictures in your head you will continue and it is not bad that the trails are getting fewer and fewer: The following section takes you back to the valley. It runs parallel to the Tauernstraße mainly on small side streets or on the Taurach cycle path towards Radstadt. If you like, a trip to the "old town in the mountains" with its mighty, historic city wall is worthwhile. My special tip for bike fans: A break in the "Radstadt Radgarten", in which ten crazy creations by the cult bike designer Dieter "Didi" Senft (known as "El Diablo" of the Tour de France) are on display. Then the last crisp climb of the Stoneman lap is waiting for you. Over the Koppen you have your sights set on the final sprint of the tour. Once at the top, the Gasthof Sattelbauer invites you to stop. It is considered one of the most beautiful inns in the Salzburg region and offers you a truly breathtaking view of the Grießenkar and the Dachstein massif. With a little melancholy, but above all with unforgettable memories, you can look back up here at the Stoneman Taurista circuit and look forward to the last descent back to the starting point in Flachau.
