At around five kilometers, the fourth stage is the second shortest on the Stubai High Trail. Since the next stage is similarly short, if you feel fit, you can hike these two in one day. Otherwise, the Sulzenau hut as the goal of the fourth stage offers an ideal starting point for further explorations. After you have left the Dresdner Hütte behind you, you will soon reach the middle station of the Stubai Glacier Railway. You cross the Fernaubach over a small bridge and suddenly find yourself in scree slopes that shape the ascent to the Großer Trögler and the Peiljoch. Here you can listen to yourself if you still have enough energy to make a detour to the Trögler. You should plan around two hours for the ascent. However, pay attention to the weather, as the path can be dangerous in wet conditions or snow. You then descend via serpentines over the ice moraine of the Sulzenau glacier to the Sulzenau hut. The highlight at the end is a unique panorama over the ice-blue glacial lake.
