This round starts as a walk. At the latest, however, you need waterproof and non-slip hiking boots along the path along the Hälbach.

If you followed the Hälbach further up, you would reach the Teufelsschlucht and make a top hike out of it along the rocks.

There are still signs stating that due to forestry

  • Approximately at km 1.8 there is a place that should not be entered and should therefore be avoided locally. Coming from above that would also be seriously cordoned off. Roughly where the entrance to the washed away hiking bridge used to be. Presumably there is a risk that another SteilHang could break

  • Hello TS, thank you very much for the impressive pictures! I was in Irrel a few days before the flood and still walked over the bridges...

  • @Svenja unterwegs You can't see anything at the popular spot where the bridge used to be. I almost think I saw the concrete base where the pillar of the bridge was attached to a rock in the river - in one of your photos - way down in a meadow. Far from shore????

  • Well possible... I remember reading at the time that the mayor said that if you wanted to rebuild the bridge you would have to build it 200m longer - because so much of the edge has broken off. There was a drone footage of Irrel completely submerged on YouTube. Incomprehensible. 😪
