Road Cycling Highlight
Cycling Adventures went cycling.

In 2019, the Großglockner High Alpine Road was on our program at our annual Transalp. A fantastic day started with a lot of sun and some fog. From Kaprun we went via Schüttdorf to Bruck, as the cycle path and the road along the Salzach were closed. In the morning there was still little traffic towards the toll booths and we were able to cycle relaxed into the valley. In the first steeper ramps our group disintegrated and everyone found his rhythm and one or more interlocutors for the climb. The higher we came, the quieter it became - not only because of the effort, but also because of the fantastic view that everyone just wanted to enjoy. Gradually, everyone arrived at our food station at Fuscher Törl.For some, of course, could not miss a trip to the Edelweißspitze. Over to the high gate, it went downhill and then about 4 km uphill. In the descent to Heiligenblut some could not get enough and turned right to Franz-Josephs-Höhe - no wonder in the weather. Down in Heiligenblut we gathered for coffee and cake, before we pedaled out of the valley to Winklern against the wind. The Iselsberg was the last obstacle of the day in our way and finally we rolled down to the valley with a view of the Lienz Dolomites. A little later we were, on side roads and the bike path, even in the middle of Lienz at our hotel. Our Transalp 2020 takes us from Bregenz to Bergamo: transalp.cycling-adventures.org
