Two cities worth seeing, in between charming river and moor landscapes with impressive buildings - these are the ingredients for this relaxed circular route. From Haselünne, the city of Burgmannshöfe and the grain distilleries, you cycle north through a varied landscape with forests, heath and raised bogs.Shortly after the village of Apeldorn you will discover the megalithic grave "Steinerner Schlüssel" on the left - an idyllic place for a rest. A little later you meet the little river Nordradde, which first accompanies you to a cozy farm café and then to the Herrenmühle. The millstones got the Nordradde water going for the first time almost 300 years ago. Today, the historic building is primarily the setting for cultural events. In Meppen you have the choice: a stroll through the shopping streets and arcades, a visit to the Emsland Archeology Museum at the Koppelschleuse or the city museum in the Alte Rentei or just a rest on the Dortmund-Ems Canal at the Höltingmühle? After the long break in Meppen, you will definitely go along the rabbit and to Bokeloh. The more than 1,000 year old St. Vitus church on the river bank and the "old school" right next door are worth seeing. The ensemble was already painterly by the painter and sculptor Otto Pankok. He lived nearby for a few years and his daughter attended school, which today makes everyday school life something 80 years ago. In addition, the old school reminds of the painter's stays. On the way back to Haselünne you can enjoy the natural river landscape of the rabbit. You cycle in the shadow of an avenue of fruit trees. Mouth-robbing the fresh fruit is by no means prohibited, but is also expressly desired on this section of the Hase-Ems tour (see mundraub.org/hasetal)
