An exciting museum tour, during which you still spend most of your time in the fresh air. First of all, the Emsland Moormuseum has a large outdoor area around its two exhibition halls, where you get to know a piece of unspoilt raised bog close up. In addition, you will discover here a historic farmyard on which rare domestic animal breeds romp. And secondly, the two major museums of this tour link the eleven-kilometer Moor Energy Adventure Trail. On the interactive "Moorkaten" you will get to know all facets of the region on the way: the flora and fauna, the peat extraction and the rewetting of bog areas, for example. Renewable energies and oil production are also important, because the aim of the adventure path is the Petroleum and Natural Gas Museum in Twist, which not only demonstrates historical and modern materials handling technology, but also the history of the "black gold" in the history of the earth. The museum also shows the history of energy production in Emsland, the largest oil production area in Germany. In many places along the way, you will notice the distinctive "oil drippers" who, in quiet up and down, get the fuel from the deep. At the same time you pass different nature reserves of the International Moor Nature Park, enjoy the view on heathland and birch groves, on dark bog lakes and on rolling meadows of typical wool grass with its snow-white fruit stands in early summer.Further stops on the tour are in Gross Hesepe the parish church of St. Nicholas and Coppenraths Knusperlädchen next to the school bakery and the barefoot path and the Nazareth church with Bible garden and the "path to happiness" in Twist. A detour is worth the motorway chapel "Jesus, Bread of Life": The brick building is modeled on historic bakeries and artistically elaborately equipped.
