From the viewing platform on Marienleuchter Weg, you'll enjoy a fascinating view of the construction work. The information point was constructed from shipping containers, and from the six-meter-high platform, you'll have an unobstructed view – on a clear day, even as far as Denmark. There are two pairs of binoculars for observing the construction site in even greater detail, and information boards and videos provide further facts about the construction project. Access to the viewing platform is free and available 24/7.

Construction work on the Fehmarnbelt Tunnel began in the summer of 2020. The tunnel will connect Germany (Puttgarden) and Denmark (Rødbyhavn), creating a direct link between Scandinavia and Central Europe. The tunnel is being built by the Danish state-owned company Femern A/S. Completion is scheduled for 2029.

Upon completion, the Fehmarnbelt Tunnel will be the longest immersed tunnel in the world and also the longest combined road and rail tunnel.
