The Crystal Palace in El Retiro is one of the best examples of so-called iron architecture in Madrid. Originally planned as a giant greenhouse to house tropical plants for the Exposition of Flora of the Philippine Islands in 1887, it is now one of the headquarters of the Reina Sofia Museum, which hosts various temporary exhibitions.

Vandring

The Estanque Grande del Retiro is one of the most iconic attractions in Madrid's Retiro Park. This artificial pond, created in the 17th century, covers an area of 37,240 m² and has a water volume of 55,150 m³. Originally, it was built for the enjoyment of King Philip IV and his court, and has been the scene of water shows and boat rides.

Vandring

Located in the surroundings of the Retiro large pond, one of the most visited areas of the park, this sculptural and architectural complex pays homage to King Alfonso XII. Inaugurated by his son Alfonso XIII in 1922, the monument is inspired by those made to Victor Manuel II in Rome and to William I in Berlin.
