Eichstätt Old Town

Highlight • Settlement

The baroque town of Eichstätt is definitely worth a tour. Above all, the cathedral and the Willibaldsburg with the Jura Museum are well worth seeing. Among other things, a famous fossil of Archeopteryx is on display at the castle.

July 6, 2025, Strade bianche😅🚴‍♀️🚴‍♂️ - Kreuz und quer durch die Eichstätter Wälder - auf den Spuren der Römer unterwegs

It starts in Eichstätt - the joy of the romantic Altmühl Cycle Path is only brief... the effort uphill to Schernfeld is definitely worth it - if you take a little time at the chapel - the hang glider launch site and a view of the Altmühl Valley. From Schernfeld, the route continues on gravel roads through the forest - hot and dusty - sometimes no fun on a gravel bike when the gravel consists of fist-sized stones 😜. But forget it: the scenery is stunning, and the 12% descent to Eichstätt (on asphalt 😉) is really cool.
