Mountain bike

In the middle of Germany ran a 1,393-kilometer-long border from the Baltic Sea to the Vogtland - a five-kilometer-wide exclusion zone that was strictly guarded and not for nothing called the “death strip”. This border also ran through the Rhön. Today you can discover the former death strip as a green belt. Here you drive partly on old concrete slab roads (the column paths) through a wonderfully green and quiet landscape and a valuable natural area in which hundreds of endangered animal and plant species have found a home.

Mountain bike

The patrol paths look easy to ride, but appearances are deceptive.
The perforated pavements are quite grueling in the long run and are incredibly hard on the joints. In addition, the elevation profile and the gradients it contains should not be underestimated. Even for well-trained cyclists, there are one or two pushing sections here and there💁‍♂️
