There are plenty of nice rest areas on the riverbank. The narrow valley is accessed by a narrow but well-developed road, which owes its condition to the further eastern observatory on the Assy Plateau.
We were lucky enough to spend Sunday with Kazakh friends there.
The journey from Almaty takes about 2 hours but is often accepted by many at the weekend.
