Sigmaringen - A CITY FULL OF HISTORY!
Over 1000 years of living history!
The place is first mentioned by name in the chronicle of the Petershausen monastery.
In 1077, anti-king Rudolf the Swabian besieged Sigimaringin Castle and Henry IV freed the castle and town from his "trip to Canossa" on the way back.
Then it's "beat by punch". Changing owners such as the Counts of Spitzenberg-Helfenstein, the Counts of Montfort, the Habsburgs, Württembergers and Werdenbergers are mentioned, until finally in 1535 the Hohenzollerns bring some peace to the small town.

Sigmaringen received city rights around 1250, and the first town hall was built in 1454. This building dates from 1925-27.
