The Grote Markt is the heart of Goes. The most striking building is the town hall. The square has mainly restaurants and a few shops. There is a market here every Tuesday and a fresh market every Saturday. At Christmas time, the Christmas market takes place here.

From 1499 inn 'In de Rijselse' was established here. This inn was burnt down during the great city fire in 1554. The inn 'De Groote Soutkeete' was then built on this site in 1610. the name is related to the most important trade in the medieval city, the salt refinery.
The inn kept its hotel function until 1944. The building with house number 3 served as a home for centuries and bore the name "Den Engel"
BoMont has now moved into both buildings. Stylish shopping.
