Kirschbaumallee is a section of the Berlin Wall Trail near the former Bornholmer Strasse border crossing. Out of joy at the fall of the Berlin Wall and the reunification of Germany, Japanese citizens donated these cherry trees in a generous fundraising campaign, which were planted in various places in and around Berlin. There are now over 10,000.

Just incredibly beautiful in spring. It's worth a trip just to see this thriving pedestrian avenue near Bornholm Bridge.
If you are already there anyway, it is worth going up to the bridge and looking at the information boards about the fall of the wall. Because here was the place where the gates were opened after Schabowski's announcement.
