Right by the road leading down to the Eder bridge, atop the village plateau, stood the Höhle inn, complete with a farm, stables, and barn.
The men of the village would gather there after work to unwind with a relaxing beer.
Before setting off, the men would fortify themselves with one last beer in their old stomping grounds.
Only in the years leading up to the construction of the dam was another inn added at Bericher Hammer.
Before the Eder Valley was flooded, it served as a canteen for the dam workers.
