Vechea primărie din Filsen este una dintre puținele case cu
structură în lemn (Fachwerkhäuser) păstrate, construite deasupra unui
arce de poartă. Structura sa în lemn poartă anul 1611. Arcul de poartă și
structura de dedesubt sunt însă probabil mult mai vechi. Un șanț de
fortificație mergea de aici, în afara satului, până la Rin.
De aici pornea și singura șosea spre Osterspai, precum și drumul
cu trăsura peste înălțimea Rinului, pe care deja romanii îl
foloseau. Cu poarta, satul era închis pe timp de noapte...
