Nideggen Castle is the only castle in the North Eifel that has a castle museum. The ruins of what was once the largest knight's hall in the German Empire are impressive. For that reason alone, it is definitely a worthwhile destination for children. The reconstructed "Jenseitsturm" houses an extensive collection with reconstruction models of Eifel castles, armour, maps and audio-visual shows. A dark dungeon in the tower cellar is part of it. The museum has set itself the task of bringing visitors closer to the history of the Middle Ages.

Castle Nideggen looks back on an eventful history and is a unique cultural monument for the history of the Middle Ages in the Rhineland and in the Eifel. From the 12th century the castle became the residence of the Counts of Jülich.

The castle museum has been in the keep since 1979. Opposite, the castle restaurant invites you to cozy hospitality in front of an impressive view of the Rureifel (rureifel-tourismus.de/a-burg-nideggen).
