From September 15, 2024, stamp station 12 of the hiking treasures of the Wild Homeland will be located behind the monastery at the signpost.

The Amelungsborn monastery with the monastery church of St. Mary was founded in 1135 as one of the first Cistercian monasteries in Lower Saxony. Today it belongs to the Evangelical Lutheran State Church of Hanover. Also worth seeing is the monastery garden, which was redesigned according to traditions from the 9th to 16th centuries. Vegetables, fruit and monastery kitchen herbs grow there.
