After the Peace of Passarowitz on July 21, 1718 Banat was annexed after 164 years of Turkish rule of the Habsburg monarchy and placed under the imperial crown and chamber domain of the Imperial Government of Vienna. It began the Habsburg colonization of Banat by the so-called Schwabenzüge. The village of Easter was founded in 1772 by colonists from the west and southwest of Germany, who were settled by Maria Theresia in the then Austrian province Temescher Banat.
