The barrier is no longer there.

It's actually a great entrance to the forest surrounding Wellbergen Castle. A beautiful forest path and very idyllic. The path to the castle leads over wooden bridges and benches for sitting in the open forest atmosphere. I don't know if bikes are allowed here, but with consideration, it's certainly possible 😉 Walking through the forest is also highly recommended to enjoy the pure nature.

🌳✨ The forest path at Haus Welbergen (often also referred to as Welbergen Castle) near Ochtrup is a true hidden gem for anyone seeking tranquility, history, and the unspoiled nature of the Münsterland region. While Burgsteinfurt Castle captivates visitors with its famous Bagno (a historic garden), Haus Welbergen offers an almost enchanted, more intimate atmosphere.

Entrance to the forest at Haus Welbergen. The narrow path winds along streams and ditches, leading over even narrower wooden bridges to the listed moated castle.

Very idyllic and highly recommended.

I didn't see any signs prohibiting cyclists. With due consideration and at off-peak times, I think it's great fun.
